Any ideas? To start with you need a good manual to guide you through the various procedures. There is no air gap quoted for the wheel speed sensors, they are just bolted into position.
It is possible that they may be out of alignment, but check this very carefully when you remove the rear sensor. As for tools needed, all I can advise is that you need a fairly comprehensive tool kit to do this job. Are you sure you are up to it? My advice is to use the Search facility on the Forum, there's 'shedloads' on ABS, including a little bit from me!
I stand, to be corrected. I didn't realise you need to measure across the short bit. See you learn something every day What a pillock. It's probably one of these T50, T55,T60,T70 but at a tenner each for a socket I didn't want to buy all of them I might as well take it into Peugeot at that cost! Fit a washer if deemed neccesary. The ABS and traction control lights came on once, then didn't come on again. I plugged in my diagnostic to read the fault codes. Fault was Rear right wheel speed sensor - coherence. I wiped the code but the code came back as soon as I drove the car even though the lights were not on.
I cleaned the sensor, without removing it because I didn't know how at the time. This made things worse, the lights now comes on after a couple if mins of driving everytime I drive the car and the fault has changed to rear right wheel speed sensor open circuit or short circuit.
Heres the confusing bit, when Im driving the car the traction control will sometimes kick in for no apparent reason or the ABS will kick in when I brake but I'm not even skidding, it may do this a few times then the ABS and traction control lights will illuminate on the dash. The symptoms seem to correspond more with the first fault coherence as the car mistakenly thinks Im skidding.
I have since taken the sensor off, cleaned it and scraped off any corrosion from the hub but it made no difference. Any Ideas what the problem might be? Im a bit of a novice and only have experience from repairing my own cars so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I went through this last week with a F The ABS acted up and speed sensor code was puzzling. We cleaned the sensors and completely changed the brake fluid.
Problem solved. Open all the bleeders and put a quart bottle "upside down" in the reservoir. Have clear tubing from the bleeders to the containers at each wheel to catch the dirty fluid. It may take a half hour for the fluid to start dripping. Figure an hour to two hours per quart to drain through.

I have a Peugeot and the passenger side ABS sensor had recorded a fault after an expensive Diagnostics so I replaced both rear sensors now there is an ABS fault on both rear wheels communication error. The garage that has done the DIAG for me said it could be the wheel bearings but if there was no fault on the drivers side and there now this would point to a Sensor Fault, would it not? I'm of the beleif that they don't need to.
